The UH Institute for Astronomy celebrates its 50th Anniversary with a special three-day meeting in Honolulu from June 28-30, 2017. Everyone with a history or relationship with the IfA is invited to attend, including former and present graduate students, postdocs, staff and faculty.
Registration
The first day, held at our Manoa headquarters, includes talks by dignitaries and a panel of IfA Directors, and is free. Registration is only $75 for the remainder of the event, held at the beautiful Ko’olau Ballroom. This includes transportation to the venue, coffee breaks, lunches, and a dinner banquet on Thursday evening. Guests and families are welcome all day Wednesday, and at the Thursday evening banquet, but they must register.
Please register online at https://about.ifa.hawaii.edu/ifa50/events/registration-ifa-50th by June 15.
Program
We will be highlighting many of the great achievements of the IfA. The preliminary program is online at https://about.ifa.hawaii.edu/ifa50/meeting-program
Please contribute to the program!
We want everyone to come with a memory or two to share. It could be an anecdote or travail.
Let us know if you need to show a slide or two, if you have a sentence or two or several paragraphs.
You can make a contribution at https://about.ifa.hawaii.edu/ifa50/your-stories
We would also request that you send us any questions you would like to pose to our panel of Directors and Acting Directors.
Hotel Information
We have made arrangements for reduced rates at three local lodging facilities covering a range of experiences for our guests: the Pacific Beach Hotel, the Hilton Hawaiian Village, and the East-West Center’s Lincoln Hall on UH campus.
Information on these facilities, and how to book your accommodations, is at https://about.ifa.hawaii.edu/ifa50/hotels
We look forward to seeing you all this summer!
